    ORIAS 2025: 72,666 intermediaries, 123,083 registrations

The 2025 annual report and ORIAS page describe 31 December 2025, consulted on 22 October 2026. These are not live headcounts. The chart compares registrations by domain only; the table distinguishes counting units.

Sirene: separate current APE codes from future NAF 2025 codes

As of 22 October 2026, Insee announces new APE codes for 1 January 2027. Early availability does not make NAF 2025 already applicable to the current code. Identify fields before matching extracts from different periods.

RNA: distinguish seven fields before building a timeline

The PDF dictionary published in December 2018 is still linked by the RNA catalogue consulted on 22 October 2026. It describes RNA_waldec among other extracts. These definitions belong to that document; also check the actual extract header and version.

BODACC: choose the edition before interpreting results

Editions A, B and C group different announcement types. DILA’s official catalogue and the BODACC search distinguish categories. Define scope before turning results into company events.

ETag: compare a representation without inventing a checksum

An HTTP validator compares representations in a resource context. The xyzzy values below come from RFC 9110 examples; they are not observations of this website and do not identify a hashing algorithm.

  6. Guide

HTTP redirects: status can also affect the method

RFC 9110 separates a redirect’s stated duration from method handling when following it. An identical final destination does not establish that two clients followed the same path.

Memento: separate the requested date from the state returned

Informational RFC 7089, published in December 2013, describes time-based access to Web resources. The two dates below are its header examples; they illustrate protocol vocabulary, not a capture we claim to have inspected.

WARC: distinguish two digests and two lengths

WARC 1.1 distinguishes a record block from its payload. Lengths 1902 and 1662 come from the response example in Annex B; they are documentation values, not measurements we recalculated on an available file.

Wayback CDX: read a row and retain its filters

The official CDX server README gives a JSON example of three archive.org captures in 1997. Values below come from Internet Archive’s published example, not a current Wayback query.

Feeds: paging, archives and complete sets are different

RFC 5005 defines feed paging and archiving mechanisms. Not every RSS or Atom feed implements them. Before promising recovery after an outage, inspect the actual document and its exposed relations.

RFC 3161 timestamps: identify what the token actually dates

A timestamp token binds a digest to a time indication signed by a time-stamping authority, or TSA. RFC 3161 separates existence of bytes from document authorship dates and factual truth.

  12. Guide

PAdES: four preservation levels, not four grades of truth

ETSI EN 319 142-1 V1.1.1 describes these PDF signature levels; European Commission DSS 6.5 documents augmentation. They distinguish material available for validation over time. A level name does not replace its validation result.

  13. Guide

Signed PDFs: identify the revision and covered bytes

A signature image, typed name or visible stamp does not establish a validated digital signature. PDF structure and validator reports distinguish appearance, cryptographic coverage and later changes.

  14. Guide

PDF/A: a preservation profile is not an authenticity certificate

ISO 19005 parts specify preservation requirements for rendering and resources. This table compares documented profiles, not checks performed on visitors’ PDFs. Identify the exact profile before interpreting a conformance report.

  15. Guide

EXIF: assemble a timestamp from the right components

Table 12 of CIPA DC-X010-2017 documents these fields and XMP mappings. It is an explicit tag-identifier reference, not a summary of every Exif version. One software-displayed date can hide present or missing components.

C2PA: validate provenance without certifying the scene

C2PA 2.4 defines signed manifests associated with digital content. It separates structural and binding validation from judging assertions. A validation indicator does not replace editorial image examination.

Eurostat: separate observation and confidentiality status

Since 27 January 2025 Eurostat has split flags between OBS_STATUS and CONF_STATUS. Dissemination codelists checked on 22 October 2026 confirm these codes. Keep letter and field together: indiscriminate lowercasing can alter meaning.

Statistical adjustment: SA, CA and SCA are not interchangeable

Eurostat’s S_ADJ response checked on 22 October 2026 distinguishes six categories. In the diagram S means seasonal and C calendar adjustment: 1 present, 0 absent. The code describes treatment, not overall series quality.

HICP 2026: distinguish reference-period and classification changes

Eurostat introduced ECOICOP version 2 with January 2026 data and the 2025 = 100 index reference. Its note updated on 3 March 2026 also describes coverage changes. This is more than replacing a year in a table title.

  20. Guide

Statistical balance sheets: stock changes are not the whole flow

The ECB’s January 2019 manual, section 5.1, distinguishes transactions from other changes in monetary financial institutions’ outstanding amounts. This notation summarizes that decomposition, not observed amounts or a universal aggregation rule.

World Bank GDP: six codes with different price bases

The six series names were checked in the World Bank API on 22 October 2026. Current dollars, constant dollars, local currency and international dollars are not interchangeable ways to state one amount. Choose the question before the series.

Real CPI data: rebase without inventing living-standard comparisons

Twelve World Bank observations cover France, the UK and the USA in 2020–2023. The API reports an 8 October 2026 update; consulted 22 October. Changes below are our calculations, rounded to two decimals, not additional World Bank-published rates.

Employment, unemployment and inactivity: classify before counting

Labour statistics classify people over a defined period. They do not directly measure contracts, adequate income or job quality. ILO definitions and survey metadata specify classification; administrative registration is a separate system. In the diagram P is the population in scope.

  24. Guide

Six labour ratios: changing the denominator changes the question

E denotes employed people, U unemployed people, LF = E + U the labour force, P the population in the same scope, and U12 unemployment lasting at least twelve months. Match age, territory, period and definition before comparing.

How can I refine the search?
Start with the topic
Enter one or two specific terms: citation, CSV or provenance. Every word must be present, so a long sentence can exclude useful pages.
Broaden before filtering
Search all families first. Then select a guide, protocol or source according to the kind of answer you need.
Try different wording
Try a synonym or a term in the selected language. Quotes, OR and asterisks are not search operators.

DEEPER READING / PRACTICE

Turn internal search into a useful user journey

A query produces several close results. Reading should help to distinguish the need definition folder, detailed method and implementation tool.

Updated on .

Priority checks

Formulate a specific need and then try neighboring terms. Read the descriptions and select the type of resource according to the searched step: understand, run or control.

Interpretation pitfalls

The first result is not always the best document to the context. An absence can come from the vocabulary used rather than a lack of content.

Working record to retain

A short route connects a need definition page, a guide and a checklist. Maintaining unresolved questions helps to rebuild research.

PRACTICAL CASE / WORKED EXAMPLE

A natural requirement does not match the exact title

The following case illustrates an approach to defining the need. Situations are pedagogical: they serve to examine the choices and conditions of success, without describing a fulfilled mission or announcing a guaranteed result.

Example context

A reader is looking for how to check a number, while the resources use the word indicator. The results must allow to continue despite a different formulation of the title.

Suggested approach

Try the neighboring terms and read the descriptions. Differentiate methods of calculation, comparison and verification of sources. Choose the resource that corresponds to the actually sought-by-step.

Conclusion and next step

Research becomes a path of solution. The questions still open serve to clarify the next query instead of multiplying the words without clear intention.

Questions for deeper practice

How do you improve a search without losing the initial need?

Keep the starting question and then specify the object, operation and resource type. Useful results give a complementary vocabulary, but their title should not automatically replace the reader's target.

DETAILED WORKSHOP / APPLICATION

Refine a query for the task to carry out

  1. 01 / Prepare the necessary information

Describe the initial question and the desired result. Identify the object, operation and type of resource that could help: file, method or tool.

  2. 02 / Carry out the approach

Try a formulation and read the descriptions. Release the useful terms and test the variants without giving up the intention. Compare the resources found according to their contribution to the route.

  3. 03 / Examine an alternative situation

If the results are close but too general, specify the operation or scope. A well-classed page is not necessarily the one that meets the searched step.

  4. 04 / Decide on the next step

Research is useful when it leads to a resource whose response can be identified. Open questions are used to prepare for the next consultation.

  5. 05 / Hand over the verification records

Keep a short track with request, resource and supplement. The reader can restart his work without repaired the tests that have led to useful content.

ANNOTATED WORKING DOCUMENT / REVIEW GRID

A track record from a request

The note retains question, tried formulations, useful results and next resource. It distinguishes the exploration vocabulary from the initial goal of the reader.

On a small screen, scroll the grid horizontally to read all three columns.

Example situations to assess
ObservationSupported interpretationNext step
A resource responds to the desired operation. The result can serve as a useful step in the course.Keep the passage and choose the necessary supplement.
The results remain general despite the good topic. The request must specify action, object or scope.Try an appropriate formulation without losing the initial question.
The first result has the word but not the answer. The presence of the term does not prove its relevance.Read the descriptions and compare the contribution of resources.

Reviewing the working document

The final verification verifies that each step reduces an open question. A link list is not yet a useful path if the reader cannot explain what each page brings.

REPORTING / EXAMPLE WORDING

Presentation of results: Turn internal search into a useful user journey

Point to clarify

A search result must be judged according to its contribution to the searched operation.

Before handing over

Check that the track keeps the initial question despite the vocabulary variants.

Example of a qualified conclusion

The resource selected meets the described stage of the need. The questions still open guidelines the next consultation and remain distinct from the answer found.
